Members of the All Progressives Congress in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have endorsed the lawmaker representing the constituency in the State House of Assembly, Damilola Soneye, for continuity  ahead of the 2027 elections.

The endorsement was announced on Sunday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ofada Ward, where party leaders, elders and grassroots mobilisers from the 12 wards converged to assess the lawmaker’s performance.

Speakers at the gathering commended Soneye for what they described as impactful representation, citing projects in infrastructure, community engagement and inclusive governance across the constituency.

They maintained that his interventions had improved the living conditions of residents, adding that continuity in office would ensure the completion of ongoing projects and facilitate further development.

The stakeholders, who spoke unanimously, urged the lawmaker to seek re-election, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity.

The meeting also drew participation from Community Development Committee leaders, artisans, youth groups and members of the Hausa community, reflecting what party leaders described as broad-based support.

Responding, Soneye said he was unaware of the planned endorsement, describing the gesture as humbling.

“I was honestly not aware of this endorsement. I am deeply humbled by this overwhelming show of love and confidence in my leadership,” he said.

He pledged to deliver more responsive and people-oriented representation if re-elected, with a focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment and improved access to social services.

Soneye added that his first term had laid a solid foundation for development, noting that continuity would guarantee the completion of ongoing projects and the implementation of new initiatives.

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Lands and Housing, also promised to deepen engagement with community leaders and stakeholders to ensure inclusive governance across the constituency.
