The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that it has endorsed a gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.

The clarification was made in a statement released yesterday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, who described the rumours as “baseless and misleading.”

The false reports suggested that party leaders had convened in Abuja and Lagos to select candidates for Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun states. Sadare, however, urged party members and the public to disregard the claims.

He emphasised that the APC will adhere strictly to its internal rules and electoral guidelines in choosing candidates, assuring that all aspirants will have equal opportunities to contest

“Eligible and competent members of our great party with the intention to vie for political office in 2027 will be given equal chance to pursue their ambition,” Sadare stated.

“We assure the citizenry that our candidates will be chosen based on their ability to serve the public interest and deliver on campaign promises.”

The party’s statement comes amid growing speculation over potential APC aspirants in southwestern states, as political tensions continue to rise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
