…Calls for collective responsibility, inclusive governance
A leading aspirant in the 2027 Ogun State governorship race, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, has called for unity, courage and collective responsibility among residents of the state as they celebrate this year’s Lisabi Day.
In a goodwill message to the people of Ogun State, Obasanjo said the annual celebration remains a powerful reminder of the enduring values of unity, resilience and communal strength, which she noted have long defined the Egba people.
She described the legendary Lisabi Agbongbo Akala as a symbol of resistance, justice and selfless leadership, stressing that his legacy continues to inspire generations to stand for fairness and promote peaceful coexistence.
According to her, the ideals represented by Lisabi are particularly relevant at a time when Nigeria requires stronger democratic institutions and more inclusive governance structures.
“The spirit of togetherness must transcend political, ethnic and social boundaries in our collective pursuit of peace, stability and development,” she said.
The former senator urged citizens, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to remain committed to unity of purpose and mutual respect, adding that sustainable progress can only be achieved through collaboration and shared responsibility.
She further charged leaders at all levels to embrace accountability and selfless service, prioritising policies that promote youth empowerment, economic growth and improved living standards for the people.
Obasanjo reaffirmed her commitment to the development of Ogun State, expressing optimism that with a shared vision and renewed sense of purpose, the state can attain greater socio-economic milestones.
She, however, wished the people of Ogun State a peaceful and memorable Lisabi Day celebration, urging them to continue to uphold the values of unity and progress for the overall prosperity of the state.
