The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has resigned from his appointment with the board.

In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, Gawuna, a former deputy governor of Kano State, said his decision to resign complied with the president’s directive, which requested political appointees with elective aspirations to relinquish their positions in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act ahead of political activities.

“My resignation is in strict compliance with the president’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” the letter read.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as a privilege and an avenue to contribute.

He also stated that he is placing his future “in the hands of Allah (SWT)” while seeking divine guidance on his next political steps.

He assured that there would be a smooth transition to the next officer, pledging to hand over responsibilities in accordance with established procedures.
