Okoye fit for Udinese’s Easter Monday clash against Como |

Maduka Okoye is set to return for Udinese ahead of their Easter Monday Serie A clash against Como after overcoming a thigh injury.

The Super Eagles goalkeeper missed Nigeria’s 2–2 friendly draw with Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, after suffering a thigh contusion in training.

He was initially ruled out of the match, raising concerns over his availability for club duty.

However, reports indicate the injury scare has eased following his return to Udine.

“Despite concerns in recent hours over Maduka Okoye’s condition, positive signals have emerged from the Bruseschi training base.

“The alarm over the Super Eagles goalkeeper has subsided.

It added: “Okoye’s participation in the Easter Monday clash against Como does not appear to be in doubt.”

The 26-year-old has been a key figure for Udinese this season, recording 60 saves with a 69.8 per cent save rate.

He has conceded 26 goals but posted a goals prevented metric of 3.66, highlighting his impact between the posts.

Okoye has also kept six clean sheets and saved one of six penalties faced.

Beyond shot-stopping, he has completed 430 passes at 63 per cent accuracy, including 152 accurate long balls, alongside 18 high claims and six sweeper actions.

Udinese head into the fixture confident their first-choice goalkeeper is fit as they look to strengthen their mid-table position.
