The one-year memorial anniversary of HRH Queen Njideka Appolus Chu holds today, April 11 at the palace of HRH King (Dr) Appolus Chu in Ogale, Eleme, Rivers State.
According to King Appolus Chu, the widower and chief mourner, “the passing of my wife has left an immeasurable void, and each day reminds me that she is no longer here. However, I find solace in knowing that those we love never truly leave us – they live on in our hearts. You will forever remain in mine.”
The memorial anniversary waill feature several events, including the unveiling of a book written in the deceased’s honour by her loving husband, the king, as well as the cutting of her posthumous birthday cake. Additionally, a statue made in honour of the queen will be unveiled at hear graveside as a lasting tribute to her legacy. Attendees are requested to wear white.
“We love you, though we are apart for now, we hold onto the hope that we will meet again. Rest on, beloved Njideka,” the monarch concluded.
