From John Adams, Minna

Barely 10 years after the suspension of its flight operations in Minna, the Overland Airline has resumed flight operations from the newly inaugurated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, Niger State.

This follows a partnership agreement entered into with the Niger State Government as part of deliberate efforts by the state government to ease the movement of potential investors into the state.

The administration of former governor of the state, Babangida Aliyu, and the airline had signed an agreement for the flight operations. But it was suspended due to deplorable facilities, including the runway at the airport.

The new partnership agreement was signed between the airline and the state government, following the remodeling of the airport and the upgrading of its facilities to an international standard by the current administration.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Overland Airways, Captain Edward Boyo, who disclosed the development to newsmen in Minna after the signing the agreement with the state, revealed that the flight operations is scheduled to begin on April 23, 2025, connecting Minna to Abuja and Lagos.

According to him, “This was achieved through the visionary leadership of the Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the strategic efforts of the New Niger Development Project (NNDP) and New Niger Aviation (NNA), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created to manage and enhance the aviation ecosystem in Niger State.”

The Chief Operating Officer of NNA, Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi stated: “This launch is more than an air route – it’s a bridge to opportunities.”
