The 17th edition of the Headies Awards, held on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, saw some of Africa’s greatest performers, like Tems, Rema, Flavour, and Davido, take home the top prizes.

Tems’ soulful ballad “Burning” won the prestigious Best Recording of the Year award, cementing her reputation as one of the continent’s best vocalists.

She also wowed the audience with her performance that night.

Rema extended his impressive run, collecting the coveted Afrobeats Album of the Year title for his project HEIS, while his smash single “OZEBA” helped London win Producer of the Year.

The youthful artist was a crowd favourite, with supporters praising his continued dominance in the global Afrobeats industry.

Flavour’s “Big Baller” was named Afrobeats Single of the Year, solidifying his legendary legacy in the industry.

The musician also had a successful night on social media, with fans praising the enthusiasm he brought to the occasion.

Davido was voted Best Digital Artiste of the Year, a suitable honour given his widespread popularity across streaming platforms and online communities.

His collaborative track “Ogechi Remix” with Hyce, Boypee, and Brown Joel was also nominated many times.

The ceremony, which lit up social media with hashtags like #TheHeadies and #Headies2025 trending all night, featured star-studded appearances from entertainers, politicians, and influencers. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was among the high-profile guests spotted at the event, alongside actors, musicians, and socialites.

Odumodublvck emerged as the winner of the fiercely contested Next Rated category, while Juma Jux from Tanzania picked up the Best East African Artiste award.
