Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial commenced on Monday morning with a jury selection in New York, with jurors asked to look at a list of celebrities and public figures.

Diddy, one of Hollywood’s most famous music moguls, is facing charges of sexual assault, trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, and others.

On Monday, 150 potential jurors were required to fill out a questionnaire about their knowledge of Diddy and other issues related to sexual assault and law enforcement.

But perhaps the most significant part of the trial was the name-dropping of at least A-listers and celebrities like Michael B Jordan, Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Mike Myers, as reported by Variety.

Other names are Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams, actor Lauren London, singer Dawn Richard, singer-producer Dallas Austin and Combs’ family members.

Speaking on the list, Judge Arun Subramanian compared it to an “appendix from The Lord of the Rings”.

The jurors were handed the list to test which names they would recognise, but it remains unclear how the celebrities relate to the ongoing case.
