TASUED Appoints New University Librarian, Assumes Duty June 2

The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has appointed Dr. Adebambo Adewale Oduwole as the new University Librarian.

The  University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke disclosed this in a statement  made available to PLATFORM TIMES on Saturday.

The statement stated that appointment  was made by the institution’s Governing Council, asking Dr. Oduwole to  officially assume duty on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Born on July 26, 1969, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Dr. Oduwole makes history as the first alumnus of Olabisi Onabanjo University (formerly Ogun State University), Ago-Iwoye, to occupy the role since TASUED’s inception 35 years ago.

Dr. Oduwole’s academic journey began at Saint Augustine Primary School, Ijebu-Ode, followed by secondary education at Adeola Odutola College in the same town.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Ogun State University in 1989, before obtaining both his Master’s and PhD in Library and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan in 1996 and 2006 respectively.

With decades of professional experience, Dr. Oduwole has served in various academic and administrative capacities, particularly at Lagos State University (LASU), where he was a member of several key bodies including the University Senate, Management Committee, Appointment and Promotions Committee, and the LASU College of Medicine (LASUCOM) Board, among others.

Internationally exposed and well-grounded in information and communication technology, he holds a diploma in Computer Studies (1998), a Proficiency Certificate in ICT, and has had research engagements at Middlesex University, UK, and the University of Illinois, Urbana-

Champaign, USA. He is also a recipient of several prestigious fellowships, including the Belgian Government Fellowship (2003), the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship (2005), and the Mortenson Fellowship (2006).

Dr. Oduwole boasts over 40 publications in respected local and international journals. He was also the recipient of the 2006 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in Library Studies and was named the best student in Cataloguing & Classification and Scientific Sources and Information at the Master’s level.

A member of numerous professional associations, he belongs to the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), the American Library Association (ALA), and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), UK.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo, has expressed his confidence in Dr. Oduwole’s capabilities, wishing him a successful tenure in office.
