The Bonny Chamber of Commerce is set to kick off the first Bonny Investment and Tourism Expo, in celebrating the potential and abundant opportunity embedded in the oil-rich coastal Island in Rivers State.
The President of Bonny Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Constance Nwokejiobi, disclosed this to journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday.
She said the Bonny Investment and Tourism Expo (BITE 2025) was a platform for investment drive.
“BITE 2025 is designed to stimulate the local economy, promote youth entrepreneurship and elevate Bonny Island as a vibrant destination for commerce,
“Culture and Tourism, it is both an investment drive and a destination, marketing campaign, drawing global attention to the island’s business potential, rich heritage and hospitality.”
Mrs Nwokejiobi further stated that the core objectives of the Tourism Expo was to stimulate the local economy through entrepreneurship, cultural enterprises, tourism and also positioning Bonny as a destination brand for Commerce, leisure and cultural exchange.
She emphasised the need to invest in Bonny Island as it was a natural hub for Investment.
“There is a need to invest in Bonny Island; we have a natural deep sea harbour and extensive shorelines, presence of major international companies including NLNG, Renaissance (SPDC) and Seplat (ExxonMobil), the Bonny-Bodo (43km) connecting the Island to the mainland, a functioning airstrip/airport, a rich cultural heritage and vibrant annual festivals,” the president stated.
According to Nwokejiobi, the first phase of the Bonny Investment and Tourism Expo scheduled to hold between June 9 and June 12, 2025 is a rallying call to rediscover Bonny Island as a destination of pride, culture, business and hospitality.
She added: “As we symbolically “Light up Bonny Island,” we set in motion a vision rooted in self-sufficiency, youth empowerment, strategic trade partnership and tourism as a key driver of local prosperity.”
