Victor Boniface hints at early retirement from Super Eagles

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface joked about early retirement from international duty after Friday’s 1-1 draw against Russia.

Boniface started for Eric Chelle’s team in Moscow but was substituted in the 61st minute.

His replacement, Tolu Arokodare scored the equaliser.

Taking to Instagram shortly after the game, the 24-year-old announced he was retiring from the Super Eagles.

He wrote, “Proud to play for my country and a dream for me also. Really enjoyed every moment, the good and the bad. Thanks a lot. Thank you all. I don hang boot.”

However, he deleted the post minutes later and posted a meme suggesting his earlier post was a joke.

The Bayern Leverkusen striker is known to frequently joke on social media.

Boniface has not scored for the Super Eagles since making his debut on September 10, 2023.
