The event took place at the palatial home of High Chief Obodoagwu, in Okpanam Delta State, where the philanthropist and founder of The Lightgivers Foundation, pledged to cover the students’ university tuition, accommodation, and other expenses to ensure a seamless tertiary education.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Nwafor Precious Ezichi, a student of Abbot Girls Secondary School, Ihiala, Anambra State, scored an impressive 314 in the 2025 JAMB results. She expressed deep gratitude to Obodoagwu for his support.

The scholarships were facilitated by former Principal of Abbot Girls Secondary School, Ihiala, Dr  (Mrs.) Sabina Chukwunedum, whose dedication to her students’ success has been instrumental to their success. During the event, Dr. Chukwunedum expressed joy at the impact of Obodoagwu’s efforts through The Lightgivers Foundation, which provides indigent students with stress-free educational opportunities. She urged the students to remain focused on their studies to become worthy ambassadors of their school and the foundation.

In his remarks, Obodoagwu said he was delighted by the students’ performance and emphasized that his philanthropy is driven by a love for humanity and a desire to give back to society. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the students’ education all through the university.

In 2023, The Lightgivers Foundation awarded scholarships to 10 students from Abbot Girls Secondary School, Ihiala, covering their education up to the university level. The selection process involved an examination for indigent students, with the top 10 candidates receiving scholarships.
