June 13, (THEWILL) – Israel has carried out multiple airstrikes on Iranian territory, hitting several sites reportedly linked to the country’s nuclear programme and long-range missile infrastructure.

As of the time of filing this report, Iran has not officially responded to the strikes.

Confirming the development, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Israel acted independently in what it described as a self-defence mission.

“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in the strikes and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” Rubio said in a statement.

He added, “Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defence.

“President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”

The airstrikes mark a significant escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran, with global powers watching closely for possible retaliation or broader regional implications.

This is a developing story…
