Nollywood is home to a new generation of talent, and among them, Olamide Ewaoluwatomi Banmeke, known as Midebams, is quickly making her mark. With a lineage deeply rooted in the Nigerian film industry—her father is the renowned Yoruba actor Segun Ogungbe, her grandfather the iconic Akin Ogungbe, and her mother Atinuke Ogungbe also an actress—it’s fair to say that acting is in her blood.

Midebams’ journey into acting wasn’t immediate. She initially started in the industry as a makeup artist, a path that she says presented its own set of challenges when transitioning to acting. “Before starting my acting career, I first started as a makeup artist. As a makeup artist transitioning into acting, it wasn’t a walk in the park. I faced various challenges adapting to new roles, and the expectations are high when working with diverse personalities. Navigating these dynamics has been a key learning experience for me,” she told Saturday Sun.

Being the daughter of a famous actor has been a “big blessing” for Midebams, though it comes with considerable pressure. “Being the daughter of a famous actor has been amazing and a big blessing, which comes with a lot of pressure because the expectations are high. People set high standards for people like us because of the successes of our parents, and one is constantly under that pressure of not wanting to disappoint,” she added.

When it comes to her personal life, Midebams values specific qualities in a partner. “I love someone who is God-fearing, responsible, and very understanding,” she stated.
