Lagos boosts public housing maintenance

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Mr. Abdulhafis Toriola, has urged residents of the state-owned housing estates in the Ikorodu axis to participate and collaborate with the Ministry to create a more sustainable and livable environment for all.

At a recent forum organised for residents of the state-owned housing estates held at Ayangule Jubilee Housing Estate, Ikorodu recently in Lagos, Mr. Toriola stated that the forum was organised to address specific issues such as estate maintenance, security, estate development, waste management, and environmental sustainability.

The Permanent Secretary, who stressed the importance of residents’ participation, expressed gratitude for their contributions, expertise, and commitment. He emphasised the importance of the forum as a platform for collaboration in line with the THEMES+ agenda which prioritizes inclusivity.

Toriola highlighted the importance of residents’ feedback and input, ensuring that it would help shape strategies and improve services. He enjoined residents to forward their report complaints or issues and feedback through Scan the QR code for efficient respond. He also advised on transparency and inclusivity in decision-making, adding that they can forward their feedback on issued to all Ministry’s social media handles or forward letter to the office of Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Housing, Alausa – Ikeja.

He stated that the government was committed to improving residents’ quality of life through investments in infrastructure, amenities, and services. He enjoined residents to work together with the facility managers by paying their service charges as when due to build a better future housing estates. He appreciated residents for their attendant and support for the housing policy and encouraged continued collaboration to achieve sustainable estate environments in the State. Toriola was represented by the Director of Estate Department, Ministry of Housing, Mrs. Olukemi Fosudo. The Director urged residents presented as today forum to share the information from the forum with those who were not able to attend.

Fosudo advised the residents to take ownership of their estates and maintain the infrastructure at when due. She also urged them to live peacefully with each other for a harmonious environment without different in their tribe, religion, language and race. Fosudo added that the ultimate goal of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration was to develop sustainable homes for Lagosians with functional infrastructure, comparable to global cities. In a goodwill message, the chairman, Ayangburen Jubilee Housing Estate Residents Association, Mr. Peter Esene thanked the Lagos State Government for offering Estate well – being and promoting sustainable living practices.
