Afeez Oyetoro, better known as Saka, a well-known Nigerian actor, has disclosed the reason behind his delayed marriage.

The actor revealed this during his most recent interview with media personality Chude Jideowon.

Speaking about his personal life and work, the actor, who also teaches theatre arts at the Lagos State University of Education, said that he married at the age of 40.

While attributing his marital delay to lack of confidence and money, Saka noted, “I’m now paying school fees with grey hair.

“I don’t have confidence. I’m a very reserved person. I got married late because of two things, which is, myself and my profession. As at then, there was no money in theatre arts and nobody recognised artistes. We were just doing it for passion. And the worst part of it then is that we were only taught acting and not how to make money from theatre.

“I had nothing, not even a car when I finished. Obviously, when you call a girl, they would look at you like there was no future for you. In fact, a lady told me I’m wasting my life, and advised me to leave theatre and for something relevant.

“The woman I was supposed to marry, said I must have two cars before I can marry her. Then something told me that this is not my wife”.

Saka eventually found his wife, Olaide Oyetoro and married her in 2003. They are blessed with three children.
