Access Bank, others raise billions for Abia Security Trust Fund,

It was naira rain in Abia on Thursday evening, as Access Bank and four other financial institutions, including some prominent Nigerians, donated billions of naira in support of the Abia State Security Trust Fund in a launch held in Umuahia.

This is even as Governor Alex Otti lauded all who donated to the trust fund, saying the launch was another layout programme in his holistic security outlook, focused on prevention of criminal activities.

Speaking while making the bank’s donation, Managing Director of Access Bank, Roosevelt Ogbonna, said the bank was making a handsome donation as a way of giving back to the state what it has been getting from society over the years. Ogbonna noted the significant developments in Abia State since Governor Alex Otti came to power, adding that people are enjoying the progress the state is making.

The Access Bank MD assured of his bank’s continued support in the development of the state, stressing that the bank will do something significant in the state in the next eight years.

Other banks that made significant donations to the Fund include, Afriexim, Zenith, UBA and Signature banks.

Some individuals that donated to the Fund were Chief Arthur Eze, Chief Emeka Offor, both of who gave N500m each, Uche Ogah, Deji Adeleke, Ide John Udeagbala, who also was the chairman of the occasion, and many others.

Governor Otti, in his speech, lauded all who donated to the trust fund, saying the launch was another layout programme in his holistic security outlook, focused on prevention of criminal activities.

The governor tasked Abians and residents to take more than a passing interest in issues of security around their vicinity in order to counter the enormous cost of security crisis.
