In a powerful and introspective debut, Nigerian-born artist and multidisciplinary creative, Samson Ogbada professionally known as Sam Beats has released his first album titled Built from the Storm.
The project’s first two singles, “If I Ride” and “To the Club”, now streaming on all major platforms, offer a deeply personal look into one of the most turbulent periods of his life.
“Music gave me a voice when words failed,” Sam Beats shares. “These tracks were born out of a significant emotional chapter, following the breakdown of a relationship that meant a great deal to me. It taught me that no matter how much effort you put in, some things are simply beyond your control. Rather than allow the pain to consume me, I chose resilience.”
That spirit of perseverance forms the core of Built from the Storm, a project shaped as much by grief as it is by healing.
The artist describes the album as a form of therapy—an honest expression of emotions he struggled to voice in everyday conversations.
“If I Ride and To the Club aren’t just songs—they’re a reflection of my journey and a tribute to the people who stood by me. They speak not only to the pain of loss, but also to the deep appreciation I have for meaningful relationships,” he says.
In keeping with the authenticity of the work, Sam Beats chose to release the album independently, free from label constraints allowing his raw vision to shine through. “I wanted this to be honest, unfiltered. I trusted my own capabilities and creative direction to tell my story.”
