•Certifications, visa support unlock opportunities in 190 countries

By Chukwuma Umeorah

To address the persistent challenge of youth unemployment in Nigeria, workforce development firm, Ingryd, has partnered with global certification body ISACA to provide discounted professional certifications and visa support for Nigerian tech talents.

The initiative, which includes a 70 per cent reduction in the cost of certification, is expected to give beneficiaries access to job opportunities across 190 countries.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Friday, the Chief Executive Officer of Ingryd, Khadijat Abdulkadir stated that the company was committed to equipping young Nigerians with relevant global credentials and pathways to employment. “And for the next five years, Ingryd, as an academic partner of ISACA, can provide training and certify you for just $250,” she said. “This is over 70 per cent actually off the actual price. This does not happen anywhere else in the world except at Ingryd.”

Under the programme, young Nigerians will be able to access professional certifications in fields such as software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, Internet of Things, blockchain technology, and agile product management. In addition to receiving ISACA-accredited instruction, graduates will also be enrolled into ISACA’s global network of over 85,000 professionals for one year at no cost.

She noted that the certifications, normally priced between $1,000 and $2,000 in European markets, have long been inaccessible to many African youths due to financial constraints. Ingryd, which currently trains about 4,000 Nigerians annually, will now aim to certify at least 2,000 individuals every quarter going forward.
