Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sacked two senior aides following damning revelations from separate investigative panels linking them to the controversial bail of a suspected drug kingpin and the diversion of palliative grains meant for vulnerable residents.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, announced the decision in a statement on Saturday, saying the governor’s action was in line with his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption.

Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, was dismissed after a special committee found him to be the “mastermind” behind securing bail for alleged notorious drug trafficker, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.

“The committee confirmed Sharada’s culpability through his own testimony, which established his direct involvement in the bail process,” Ibrahim revealed.

The scandal has generated widespread outrage in the state, coming at a time when security agencies are intensifying the fight against illicit drugs.

In a separate case, Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office, was shown the exit door after being implicated in the rebagging of palliative grains at a warehouse in the Sharada area in 2024.

The SSG said Roba had already been arraigned in court on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy, adding that the diverted items were public assets meant for the poor.

Both dismissed aides have been ordered to return all government property in their possession by Monday, August 11, 2025, and to immediately desist from parading themselves as state officials.

The governor, however, cleared Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, after investigators found no evidence to support allegations against him.

Governor Yusuf used the opportunity to issue a strong warning to political appointees, stressing that “discipline, transparency, and integrity” remain non-negotiable in his administration.

“Our commitment to fight corruption is unwavering. Public officials must uphold the highest standards of integrity in both their official duties and private lives,” he declared.

The government also cautioned members of the public against conducting any official business with the sacked aides, warning that anyone who does so “does so at his or her own risk.
