Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has launched the 3rd and 4th aircraft acquired by the Cross River State government for its Cally Air fleet.

The launch, which took place at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, had in attendance the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, and other dignitaries in the state.

The Vice President, in his remarks, said he is honoured and privileged to launch the new fleet in service to God and humanity.

In his remarks, the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, said the aviation sector is key to his tourism development policy.

He also disclosed that he intends to further expand the fleet with three new aircraft that will link and serve the Gulf of Guinea.

“The aviation sector is key to our tourism development policy. We already have two aircraft, have added another two today, and hope to add another three to our fleet.

“We hope to make our aviation sector a hub that will link Guinea-Bissau and serve even the Gulf of Guinea,” Governor Otu said.

He also emphasised that his administration has keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda and plans to ensure Cross River emerges as a strong sub-national that will contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.

The Governor also said he inherited three engines from his predecessors and decided to integrate these in his administration to ensure a robust economy.

Vice President Kashim Shettima also commissioned the remodelled Cross River State library and flagged off an MSME Clinic in the course of his visit to Cross River State.
