UPM Unveils Interim Leadership, Pledges Political Accountability, Grassroots Mobilisation

The United Premier Movement (UPM) has inaugurated its Interim Working Committee, a strategic leadership team tasked with steering the organisation towards building what it described as “a united, purposeful, and people-driven political force.”

The event, held on Tuesday, marked a new phase for the movement, which says it is determined to deepen citizen engagement and drive a merit-based political culture ahead of future elections.

Speaking at the inauguration, UPM Convener and National Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Olalekan A. Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, said the new leadership is a signal of the group’s readiness to reshape Nigeria’s political direction.

“This inauguration is not just an administrative exercise, but a clear statement of our readiness to champion political accountability, merit-based leadership, and a united voice for our people,” Shoyinka said.

“The Interim Working Committee embodies the vision, commitment, and determination that UPM stands for.”

The committee comprises grassroots mobilisers, policy strategists, administrators, and media professionals drawn from key directorates including Leadership, Finance and Administration, Mobilisation, Political Strategy, and Special Operations.

Key appointments include:Leadership Directorate: Hon. (Chief) Olalekan A. Shoyinka – Convener; Comrade Emmanuel O. Oke – General Secretary; Hon. Yusuf Ayodele – Publicity Secretary/Media Director.

Finance & Administration: Mrs. Kikelomo Ogunsina-Obabi – Treasurer; Comrade Aderibigbe Alaran – Financial Secretary; Alhaja Aminat Adenike Hussein – Director, Welfare & Community Support.

Mobilisation & Membership Development: Hon. Quamdeen Ayinla Akinyele – Organising Secretary; Hon. Kolawole Shamsideen Alimi – Director, Mobilisation & Grassroots Engagement; Mrs. Arike Omotanbaje – Director, Women Affairs; Hon. Kamil Sokunle – Director, Youth Affairs.

Political Strategy & Research: Elder Dele Ayodo – Director, Strategy & Policy Research; Comrade Sheriff Adenekan – Director, Electoral Matters; Comrade Idowu Ajibodu – Director, Political Intelligence & Security.

Special Operations: Hon. Oluwasegun Emmanuel Adeniran – Director, Special Duties.

The party also unveiled ward coordinators for Abeokuta South Local Government, with representatives appointed across Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 15.

UPM’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Yusuf Ayodele, urged members and supporters to rally behind the leadership team.

“Our strength lies in unity and shared purpose. Together, we can shape a future anchored on One Voice, One Cause, One Future,” he said.
