Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has officially earned a professional culinary diploma from the Hospitality Business School in Lagos State. The young chef completed the programme on a full scholarship provided by Horecabb Mentors.
In an Instagram post celebrating her achievement, Dammy wrote, “It’s safe to say Chef Dammy is officially a professional chef. Grateful to have graduated from the best hospitality school in Nigeria, first in Africa and among the top 10 in the world. Cheers to the grace of God and the favour of men that have brought me this far. God bless HBS. God bless my sponsors. God bless my supporters. God bless Nigeria. And God bless me.”
Reflecting on her journey, she recalled the nervous excitement of her first day on campus in February. “My first time in a school uniform as a proper pro. Chef in the making. When I stepped out of the hostel, I started hearing, ‘Chef Dammy, you’re finally wearing the uniform, so fine!’ I ran back inside, took selfies, and started blushing again,” she shared.
Dammy also acknowledged the support of Oluwatobi Fletcher (Ofadaboy) and the Ekiti State Government, which facilitated her enrollment in a programme endorsed by the state’s First Lady, Yemi Oyebanji.
HBS CEO, Mekwuye Eric, confirmed that her scholarship included five additional culinary and mixology courses designed to make graduates “complete and well-rounded chefs.” He added, “With professional training in culinary arts and mixology, she is now positioned for opportunities in restaurants, hotels, and personal food ventures.”
Dammy first rose to national prominence in 2023 following a 120-hour cook-a-thon, which attracted online attention, controversies, and cyberbullying.
Her latest achievement has attracted commendation from fans who have flooded social media with congratulatory messages. Gylliananthonette wrote, “So proud of her, like play like play, she is now a professional.” Luxella7890 added, “Destined for greatness. More wins, dear. Congratulations.” Dimejiroland praised her resilience: “With all the hate and bullying, she still went ahead to achieve this, amazing.”
