… Commission Denies Irregularities, Insists on Merit-Based Posting

A fresh controversy has erupted at the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) following viral social media claims that two newly promoted principals were posted to the same school, while others promoted were left without duty posts, allegedly due to favoritism and financial inducements.

The anonymous statement, which has been trending under the title “Ogun TESCOM On My Mind”, accused the commission of mismanagement, poor record keeping, and corruption in the posting of principals and vice principals across public secondary schools in the state.

In the viral conversation, an unnamed principal lamented being promoted without a school assignment, alleging that “juicy postings” were reserved for the highest bidders or those willing to “play ball.”

PLATFORM TIMES however could not confirm the school were the principals were posted to as dontje time of filing this report .

The statement also suggested that some female officers had been pressured into compromising situations to secure favorable postings.

“Imagine the commission posted two newly promoted principals to the same school, where a sitting principal already exists, and the poor fellow was asked to log in the two new principals. Where is it done? When a crown is not vacant, another king cannot be enthroned,” the anonymous complainant lamented.

The viral post further alleged that teachers are often harassed by zonal officers and sidelined in decisions, describing the posting process as “a recurring decimal, year in, year out.”

But in a swift reaction, TESCOM Chairman, Apostle ‘Biodun Sanyaolu, dismissed the allegations as “unfounded, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to undermine the commission.”

In a statement personally signed by him on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Sanyaolu maintained that postings in the state’s secondary schools are transparent and based strictly on merit.

“For the avoidance of doubt, postings of principals and vice principals are carried out strictly on merit, guided by verifiable records of service, vacancies in schools, and in line with established civil service rules,” the statement read.
