The Imole Progressive Network (IPN), under the leadership of Engineer Mike Adeyanju, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the country’s 65th Independence anniversary, describing the day as a reminder of unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility.
In a statement issued in Akure on Wednesday, Adeyanju and members of the Ondo North-based socio-political group saluted both Nigeria and Ondo State for their resilience and progress since gaining freedom from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.
“Happy Independence Day! This is the celebration of national freedom, unity, and progress—a reflection of our forefathers’ achievements and a pointer to a beautiful future,” the group said.
Adeyanju noted that the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers, including Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, laid the foundation for self-rule after decades of colonial dominance.
He added that 65 years after independence, the anniversary should serve as a renewal of Nigerians’ aspirations for a stronger and more prosperous nation.
“This day refreshes our minds and encourages us to uphold patriotism, bridge divisions, and work together for the betterment of the country, focusing on our collective potential and a shared dream of greatness,” Adeyanju stressed.
Reaffirming IPN’s commitment to nation-building, the statement pledged continued dedication to values of unity, solidarity, resilience, perseverance, and good governance.
“We see a greater Nigeria in our unity and willingness to serve selflessly. Our rich culture, heritage, and enduring strength will continue to drive reforms and shape a brighter future,” the group concluded.
