NELFUND Reopens Student Loan Portal For Final 48 Hours, Warns Defaulting Institutions

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has reopened its student verification portal for a final 48-hour window to allow tertiary institutions that are yet to complete their verification processes to do so.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the Fund said the decision followed the recent closure of the portal but was necessitated by the need to ensure that all eligible students are captured in the 2024/2025 academic year loan cycle.

According to NELFUND, the portal will reopen at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and close by 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

“This final reopening is to enable institutions that have not completed their student verification exercise to do so within the stipulated time. Failure to comply will lead to exclusion from the current loan cycle, which may deny their students access to the loan scheme,” the statement warned.

NELFUND also disclosed plans to publish the list of defaulting institutions in the interest of transparency and accountability.

The Fund reiterated its commitment to ensuring equitable access to tertiary education through efficient and transparent management of the student loan scheme.

It urged all institutions to take advantage of the limited extension to verify their students and avoid jeopardising the opportunity for their learners to benefit from the scheme.

For further inquiries, NELFUND advised stakeholders to visit its official website at www.nelf.gov.ng or contact its verified social media handles on X (Twitter) @nelfund, Instagram @nelfund, and Facebook and LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND.
