Lagos APC Chairmanship Aspirants Demand Refund Of Nomination Fees, Vow Support For Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

A group of aspirants who contested the 2025 chairmanship primaries under the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the State Chairman of the party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, to honour the party’s earlier promise to refund the nomination fees paid before the exercise.

The aspirants, under the umbrella of the Lagos State APC 2025 Chairmanship Aspirants Conference, made the appeal in separate letters to Sanwo-Olu and Ojelabi, both dated September 8, 2025.

In the letters jointly signed by the Convener and General Secretary of the group, and titled “Consideration and Solidarity for the 2027 Re-election Bid of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and pledged to deliver massive grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.

“We humbly seek your indulgence with our Conference to present our structures and readiness to deliver massive grassroots mobilisation for the 2027 mandate,” the letter stated.

They reminded the governor and party leadership of the commitment made during the July 2025 local government primaries to refund the chairmanship nomination fees submitted by aspirants in bank drafts as directed by the APC.

“We are convinced that refunding the nomination fees, as well as offering political consideration to our members, will energise our structures and deepen our capacity to deliver results,” the group added.

The aspirants also urged the state government to consider them for inclusion in political appointments, stressing that their continued exclusion could weaken the party’s grassroots base.

“As aspirants who heeded the party’s call and made sacrifices during the last chairmanship contest, we have continued to stand firm in our loyalty to the APC.

Our grassroots machinery remains well established and ready to mobilise effectively in support of Mr. President’s 2027 re-election,” the statement further read.

The group emphasised that honouring the refund promise and recognising loyal members who invested in the process would not only strengthen internal unity but also bolster the APC’s performance in the forthcoming general elections.
