Nigeria striker Terem Moffi and his OGC Nice teammate, Jérémie Boga, have taken steps to terminate their contracts with the club after they were attacked by fans last December, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to reports, both players were hit, kicked and spat at by raging fans at the club’s training ground after their 3-1 defeat at Lorient in November 2025.

As per Get French Football News, Moffi and Boga were both targeted due to recent incidents. Moffi, a former Lorient player, was shown laughing with Lorient president Loïc Féry on Ligue 1 Plus after the defeat – their sixth in a row in all competitions – while Boga invited Olympique de Marseille fans to the Allianz Riviera the weekend prior during the 5-1 loss to their local rivals. He has since apologised.

Moffi and Boga have not stepped on a pitch since the incident and have now decided to leave the club by officially initiating the process, according to L’Équipe.

“Since the incident, Boga and Moffi have been unable to return to first-team training,” Get French Football News wrote.

“Their initial sick leave period was meant to last around one week; however, it has been repeatedly extended. The two Nice players have also opened legal proceedings against the alleged perpetrators of the violence on November 30.

“The players’ lawyers have now moved to see their contracts terminated, on the basis that the necessary measures to ensure their security were not taken by the club.”

The report also added that a meeting with the league’s judicial commission will take place on Thursday.

Moffi and Boga’s contracts run until the summer of 2027.

The 26-year-old Moffi recently recovered from an injury that has kept him out since October. He has played 10 games this season, scoring two league goals.
