The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued a 45-year-old man, Kasimu Adamu, who was abducted by armed gunmen in Dagga village, and has launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on January 3, 2026, when about 12 armed men stormed Dagga village and abducted the victim.

Habib said the rescue followed an intelligence report from a good Samaritan, which prompted swift action by police operatives in collaboration with local hunters.

“Upon receipt of the report, a team of police operatives, in conjunction with local hunters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Muhammad Garba, acted promptly, engaged the hoodlums and successfully rescued the victim unhurt, while the perpetrators fled,” the statement read.

The police spokesperson added that efforts had been intensified to track down and arrest the suspects involved in the crime.

He also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, had commended the operatives and the local hunters for their swift response, while urging residents to continue to support the police with timely and credible information.

“The Commissioner of Police enjoins the good people of Bauchi State to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police by providing useful information to enhance effective policing, as security is a collective responsibility,” Habib said.

He further stressed the importance of the police campaign slogan: “If you see something, say something.”
