Ogun LP Condemns APC’s E-Registration, Describes Exercise As Fraudulent Charade

The Ogun State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has condemned the ongoing electronic membership registration being conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a deceptive political exercise aimed at masking what it called the failure of the Dapo Abiodun administration.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ogun LP Chairman, Chief Oluwabukola Soyoye, said the APC’s statewide e-registration was “a digital scam designed to mislead the public into believing that the ruling party still enjoys popular support in Ogun State.”

Soyoye alleged that contrary to the APC’s claim that the exercise was a routine membership registration drive, it was in reality “a political referendum that exposes the deep rejection of Governor Dapo Abiodun and his black-market style of governance by the people of the state.”

He said the ruling party had abandoned open and physical registration exercises because of widespread public dissatisfaction with its performance.

“The people of Ogun are now wiser. They have deliberately refused to participate in any open, physical APC registration because they know the ruling party has failed them,” the statement read.

“That is why the APC has resorted to this so-called electronic registration — a system that allows figures to be fabricated behind closed doors without the presence of real members.”

The Labour Party further accused the APC of using the digital platform to manipulate membership data, inflate figures and project a false image of popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“What we are witnessing is not a genuine political exercise but a fraudulent digital operation designed to manufacture legitimacy for a government that has lost the confidence of the people,” Soyoye said.

He also criticised the Abiodun administration, alleging that it had been characterised by incompetence, lack of transparency and misplaced priorities, which he said had worsened hardship, unemployment and infrastructural decay across the state.

According to him, the APC was deliberately avoiding direct engagement with the electorate out of fear of rejection.

“The APC in Ogun State is running away from the people. They cannot face the electorate in the open because they know they will be rejected. Their e-registration is simply an attempt to hide behind computers to escape the verdict of the masses,” he added.

The party called on security agencies, civil society organisations and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to closely monitor political activities in the state, warning against what it described as a growing culture of digital political manipulation.

The Labour Party reaffirmed its commitment to offering what it described as a credible, people-centred alternative to the APC, assuring residents of Ogun State that it remained focused on promoting transparency, accountability and genuine development.
