Crescent University, Abeokuta, has expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of Bachelor’s degree programmes in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering, following approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, announced the new programmes at the institution’s 21st matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, stressing that all courses run by the university are fully accredited by the NUC and relevant professional bodies.

Gbajabiamila said the new programmes were designed to position students for emerging opportunities in the digital economy and meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in technology-driven sectors.

He urged newly admitted students to shun cultism, drug abuse, violence, examination malpractice and other social vices, warning that such acts could jeopardise their academic careers.

In his remarks, the Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prince Adesegun Ajibola (SAN), thanked parents for their confidence in the university’s vision of academic and moral excellence, urging them to see the institution as a collective project rather than a private enterprise.

Ajibola also commended the Crescent University Alumni Association for donating N5m to the institution and pledging support for a building project, urging fresh students to emulate the gesture by contributing to the growth of their alma mater in the future.

A total of 567 full-time students were matriculated across six colleges — Bola Ajibola College of Law, College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, College of Health Sciences, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Information and Communication Technology, and College of Environmental Sciences — while 270 part-time students were also admitted.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, represented by the Head of Matriculation and Monitoring, Mrs Kafayat Ibiwoye, congratulated the students and praised Crescent University for strict compliance with admission guidelines.
