The Governing Council of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has celebrated the exit of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo, with the unveiling of a 400-page tribute book chronicling his five-year tenure.

The book, titled From Farm to Faculty: Planting People and Building Systems, was presented at a valedictory ceremony held on Wednesday at the TETFund Hall of the institution.

The event, attended by council members, principal officers, academics and alumni, was marked by glowing tributes and a deep sense of admiration for Banjo’s leadership, which many described as stabilising and transformative.

Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Rahman Bello, who led the official presentation, hailed the book as a “legacy compass for future leaders” and a documentation of what he termed “a tenure defined by calm, cohesion and progress.”

According to him, Prof. Banjo presided over one of the most harmonious periods in the university’s history, achieving unity among management, staff and unions despite funding limitations common to public universities.

“This is a rare feat in an institution constantly battling limited resources to execute essential capital and recurrent projects,” Bello said.

“The stability we enjoyed under his leadership is a testament to his focus, humility and exemplary character.

“This publication will remain a prized memento of a tenure served with passion, camaraderie and grace.”

The publication captures milestones in Banjo’s administration, including reforms in academic culture, institutional governance, staff development, infrastructural strides and innovations that positioned TASUED more prominently in the national education space. It also contains tributes, photographs, documented achievements and an in-depth interview with the outgoing VC.

In his valedictory remarks, Prof. Banjo said he took office with a vow “to serve with integrity, build with purpose and leave TASUED stronger than I met it,” adding that he was satisfied that the mission had been accomplished through teamwork and shared vision.

“This is not just a celebration of my tenure but a testament to the power of collective commitment,” he said. “Challenges we faced became stepping stones for deeper reforms, and every stride we made reflects the resilience of the TASUED community.”

Banjo, who described the university as “home forever,” urged the academic community to continue nurturing the institution’s founding philosophy and culture of excellence.

“Leadership is never about the title; it is about impact,” he told the audience, as applause echoed across the hall.

Prof. Banjo officially bows out as Vice-Chancellor this month after completing his statutory tenure.
