An aide of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, told the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, that the supremacy of the Alaafin over other Yoruba monarchs no longer exists.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity made this known in a post on his X page on Saturday.
He argued that the historical authority of the Oyo Empire should not be equated with contemporary cultural or political influence.

Ajayi wrote: “We are no longer in the era of Oyo Empire.
“Rome and United Kingdom that once ruled more than half of the world as empires can no longer claim sovereignty over the former colonies.
