The Ogun State Government on Wednesday unveiled an artificial intelligence-driven teaching and learning platform, OgunLEARN, in a bold move to modernise classroom instruction, improve teacher effectiveness and bridge educational gaps between urban and rural schools.

Governor Dapo Abiodun launched the platform at a one-day workshop held at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, attended by public secondary school principals, school portal administrators and executives of Subject Teachers’ Associations across the state.

Speaking at the event, Abiodun described the initiative as a landmark step in repositioning education in Ogun, stressing that access to quality learning should not be determined by geography or social background.
“Education is the foundation of a strong society.

Every child, regardless of background, deserves access to quality learning. OgunLEARN represents our commitment to leveraging technology to deliver inclusive, future-ready education,” the governor said.

He recalled how teachers adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic and noted that digital tools would now play a central role in the state’s long-term education strategy, adding that at least five other states had already indicated interest in adopting Ogun’s model.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said the platform would provide teachers with ready-made lesson notes powered by artificial intelligence, enabling them to focus more on pedagogy, creativity and student engagement.

“OgunLEARN will ensure that learners in underserved communities have access to the same quality of materials available in urban centres,” Arigbabu said.

“It is a tool to enhance, not replace, teachers, ensuring equity, quality and inclusiveness across all schools, including special needs institutions.”

He added that Ogun’s earlier innovations, including the Learner Identification Number system and digital school management platforms, had strengthened planning, improved resource allocation and reduced examination malpractice in the state.

The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Joshua Ifede, and other education stakeholders at the event commended the government’s investment in digital infrastructure, describing OgunLEARN as a timely intervention to standardise teaching quality across public schools.

Also present were the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, and several school heads and principals.

Speaking on behalf of school administrators, the Principal of Abeokuta Grammar School Junior, Mr. Faleti Olushina, said the platform would ease lesson preparation and guarantee a more consistent and high-quality learning experience for students.

OgunLEARN, officials said, is part of the state’s broader digital education strategy, alongside initiatives such as OgunRehab, OgunScholar and OgunTeach.

The platform integrates artificial intelligence and simulations to support academic, technical and vocational education, ensuring uniform standards of instruction across schools statewide.
