The Nigeria Police Force has announced that the screening of shortlisted applicants for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables will begin in Oyo State on March 9.

The exercise, organised in collaboration with the Police Service Commission, will run from Monday, March 9, 2026, to Friday, April 18, 2026, according to the Oyo State Police Command.

This was made known by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Ayanlade Olayinka, in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the statement, the screening in the state will take place at the Officers’ Mess, Oyo State Police Command Headquarters, located within the command headquarters at Eleyele, and candidates are expected to appear strictly on the date and time indicated on their invitation slips.

Applicants were advised to log on to the official recruitment portal to confirm their status and print the necessary documents ahead of the screening.

The command stated that candidates must present several documents at the venue, including their invitation slip with the assigned table, screening forms, evidence of physical and mental fitness from a government-recognised medical hospital, National Identification Number printout or NIMC card, O’Level certificate, birth certificate or declaration of age, and a local government or state of origin certificate duly signed by the appropriate authority.

It added that applicants seeking specialist positions must also present their trade test certificate, alongside a duly completed guarantors’ form, while all original and duplicate copies of credentials must be neatly arranged in two separate white flat files with recent passport photographs attached.

The statement further directed that all applicants must appear at the venue dressed in a white T-shirt, white shorts, white canvas shoes and white stockings as prescribed for the exercise.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, reiterated that the recruitment exercise was free of charge and warned applicants against dealing with fraudsters.

He said, “The recruitment process is completely free, transparent and strictly based on merit. Applicants must not pay money to anyone. Anyone caught demanding or collecting money from candidates will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

The commissioner assured eligible applicants that the command had put necessary measures in place to ensure a smooth, transparent and credible screening exercise.
