Chevron Nigeria Limited, operator of the joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has reaffirmed its commitment to socio-economic development in the Niger Delta region.
This is as CNL pledged to continue partnering with the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Delta State Government “to understand the proposal.”
These were contained in a statement signed by the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Chevron Nigeria and Mid-Africa Region, Mr Olusoga Oduselu, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri on Saturday.
According to the statement, the Director and Chief Operating Officer, Chevron Nigeria and Mid-Africa Region, Mr Segun Kuteyi, gave the assurance during a joint visit by CNL and NDDC officials to the Delta State Government in Asaba on March 12, 2026.
The statement explained that during the visit, the Chevron official “highlighted CNL’s belief that the construction of the road will potentially improve connectivity and foster economic development in the region.”
He also recognised “the critical importance of building the required synergy with the Delta State Government through the project lifecycle.”
He stated, “CNL believes that a collaborative approach with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and private sector partners, will deliver best value and the NDDC, being the initiator of the project, is a critical stakeholder in the project.
“Nigeria’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme (RITCS) provides a framework that may incentivise eligible private sector participation,” he stated, adding that CNL will continue to collaborate with the Nigerian government and other stakeholders to support the development of the Nigerian oil and gas industry and the Nigerian economy.
