Enyimba FC striker Edidiong Enobong has warned reigning champions Remo Stars that they face a difficult outing when both sides meet in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 36 fixture on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The forward will come up against his former club at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, where the People’s Elephant are aiming to secure maximum points against the faltering champions as the season enters its decisive phase.
Enobong, who spent the 2022/23 campaign with Remo Stars, admitted he retains fond memories of his time with the Ikenne-based side but insisted his focus is firmly on helping Enyimba emerge victorious.
“I have beautiful memories of my time at Remo Stars, and I am looking forward to playing against them this weekend,” he said as quoted by NPFL.com.ng.
“I feel a bit emotional regarding the memories I had with them but right now the pride of the People’s Elephant is my priority.”
The striker also expressed confidence in Enyimba’s chances, calling on supporters to play their part in what is expected to be a closely contested encounter.
“I want to call on the esteemed fans of Enyimba to turn up in their numbers and support us as we go for a non-negotiable three points against Remo Stars,” Enobong added.
Enobong has featured 28 times in the NPFL this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist, and is expected to play a key role as Enyimba attempt to halt the momentum of the champions.
With both sides chasing avoiding the drop in the closing weeks of the campaign, Sunday’s fixture in Aba carries significant weight, as Enyimba seek to move further up to mid table from 13th while Remo Stars aim to retain their status as a top-flight club.
