The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Abuja Chapter and others have expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of Gwamkat Gwamzhi, a staff member of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
The staff of the Federal Government outfit was also a member of the Association of Energy Correspondents Abuja FCT (AECAF).
Bassey Ita-Ikpang, Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, in a condolence message issued on Saturday in Abuja described the late Gwamzhi as a dedicated media professional whose sudden death was a painful loss to the journalism community.
Ita-kpang said the deceased was widely admired for her humility, professionalism, warmth, and commitment to duty, noting that she maintained cordial relationships with colleagues and friends.
According to her, Gwamzhi’s calm disposition and kind-hearted nature distinguished her within the media industry and among associates.
“Her sudden departure is a painful loss not only to the media family but to everyone who encountered her warmth, humility, professionalism and kind-hearted nature,” she said.

The NAWOJ FCT chairperson extended the association’s heartfelt condolences to the management and staff of FRCN, members of AECAF, her station, family, friends and immediate family over the irreparable loss.
She prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to grant her family and loved ones the strength to bear the painful loss.
“May her gentle soul rest peacefully in glory. Amen,” Ikpang said.
In another development, Collins Yakubu-Hammer, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Chapel, described her demise as a great loss to the media space.
Yakubu-Hammer said: “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire FRCN family, her loved ones, friends, and colleagues over this painful loss.
“We pray that Almighty God grants her eternal rest and gives all those she left behind the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
