The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibogun Ward, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, has suspended a prominent party chieftain, Chief Joju Fadairo, alongside the Ward Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Oluwanisola, and the Ward Youth Leader, Mr. Abraham Samuel Ochem, over alleged anti-party activities and alleged breaches of the party’s constitution.
The suspension was ratified at a General Meeting of APC members in Ibogun Ward held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the party secretariat in Akiode, where stakeholders deliberated on internal disputes and disciplinary concerns within the ward structure.
According to resolutions reached at the meeting, members unanimously endorsed an earlier decision of the Ward Executive Committee to place Alhaji Oluwanisola and Mr. Ochem on indefinite suspension over allegations bordering on financial misconduct, abuse of office, and failure to comply with party administrative procedures.
They were accused of alleged mismanagement and lack of accountability in the handling of funds released for recent party affirmation and primary election processes, refusal to convene statutory ward meetings as required by the APC Constitution, and alleged threats to dissolve constitutionally recognised ward structures.
The ward also accused the suspended officials of taking unilateral decisions without recourse to party organs, describing their conduct as “inimical to party cohesion and grassroots stability.”
In a separate resolution, the meeting also approved the indefinite suspension of Chief Fadairo over alleged public endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu.
Party members described the alleged endorsement as a serious act of indiscipline and anti-party conduct capable of undermining the electoral fortunes and unity of the APC in the ward.
They further cited provisions of the APC Constitution prohibiting members from supporting opposition candidates or engaging in actions capable of bringing the party into disrepute.
The meeting, which reportedly had 106 members in attendance, said 21 out of the 27 ward executive members endorsed the suspensions and disciplinary actions taken against the affected party leaders.
Meanwhile, in a separate communication addressed to the Chairman of APC in Ifo Local Government, 21 members of the Ward Executive Committee formally notified the local government leadership of the disciplinary measures, insisting that due process had been initiated.
The committee further alleged that the suspended Ward Chairman failed to give proper account of party funds and had attempted to override established party structures following queries raised by members.
Mr. Ochem was also accused of openly working for and campaigning for an opposition candidate alongside Chief Fadairo, an allegation the committee described as a clear violation of party loyalty.
The ward leadership maintained that the suspensions were necessary to safeguard discipline, accountability, and constitutional order within the party, adding that an ad-hoc disciplinary committee would be constituted to investigate the allegations and afford the affected members fair hearing.
Party officials said the outcome of the investigation would determine further actions in line with the APC Constitution.
