Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has dismissed claims that he consulted a native doctor to boost his re-election chances.
The denial was issued on Wednesday by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Aburime, who described the allegation as “totally false” and a product of “malicious and deliberately fabricated” online content.
According to Aburime, a viral video being circulated on social media — purported to show the governor in a native doctor’s consultation — was actually from a recent interactive session with Anambra-based content creators.
The event, he explained, was organised by the governor’s Special Assistant on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, to promote synergy between the state government and the creative industry.
“One of the content creators performed a comic skit dressed as a native doctor — a common genre in Nigerian entertainment — to showcase creative talents. It was strictly a performance, not a spiritual consultation,” Aburime clarified.
He expressed disappointment over attempts by political opponents to twist the event for propaganda purposes, warning the public to disregard the video.
“Governor Soludo remains focused on delivering the Solution Agenda, not superstition,” he stated. “He has never and will never rely on native doctors for political success.”
The state government urged residents and media platforms to verify information before sharing, and resist attempts to manipulate public opinion.
Soludo, who assumed office in 2022, is expected to seek re-election next year.
