Ex-Brother Naija housemate, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has warned against the dangers of false rape claims, stressing their harm to genuine victims.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, Tacha referenced the recent case of TikTok user Mirabel, who admitted to fabricating a rape allegation.

She said, “Rape is a very serious issue. Women should never weaponise rape for any reason, because at the end of the day, you are taking away from the real victims.”

Tacha argued that false accusations make it harder for real victims to be believed and embolden rape apologists. She also called for accountability, saying, “If any girl comes out to accuse a guy falsely of raping her, I honestly think she should be taught a lesson.”

While acknowledging mental health may play a role in some cases, Tacha emphasised that penalties are necessary to underscore the seriousness of false allegations.

She added, “I am not going to back down from the fact that women still do get raped. I am not going back down from the fact that there are real victims out there.”

She also highlighted the emotional toll on both the accused and society, noting that false claims “toy with your mental health,” while reinforcing the importance of protecting genuine victims.
