Leading energy newspaper, Energy Times, has honoured NIPCO Gas Limited with the Most Integrated Gas Company of the Year 2024 award.

The accolade, presented during the Energy Times Awards ceremony in Lagos, honours the company’s pioneering efforts in utilizing natural gas as a sustainable fuel source for motorists and industries.

The recognition by Energy Times underscores NIPCO Gas’s leadership in providing natural gas solutions through Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) across Nigeria.

As part of its yearly celebration of exceptional achievements in the energy sector, the award highlighted NIPCO Gas’s significant contributions to promoting natural gas as an economical and cleaner alternative fuel while expanding its infrastructure to support this mission.

NIPCO Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Lawal Taofeek, accepting the award on behalf of the Managing Director/CEO, Nagendra Verma, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honour.

Verma emphasized that the award reaffirmed the company’s enduring commitment to expanding natural gas usage through significant investments in infrastructure, enabling greater adoption by motorists and industries nationwide.

He emphasized that the recognition aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes compressed natural gas as a sustainable fuel alternative.

MD NIPCO Gas, Mr Verma also highlighted recent advancements in NIPCO Gas’s operations, including the award of Gas Distribution Licenses (GDL) by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

These licenses, which cover areas such as Lekki, Ibadan, kara, Ibafo, Abeokuta, and Benin City, have strengthened the company’s position in the Nigeria’s natural gas sector.

“The 25-year exclusivity granted under the GDL not only secures investors’ capital but also strengthens the foundation for sustained growth and further investment in gas infrastructure,” Mr Verma stated.

He credited the support of strategic partners—NGML, PCNGI, NMDPRA, Federal Agencies, and other stakeholders—as instrumental to the company’s progress, affirming NIPCO Gas’s readiness to continue fostering collaboration in advancing the nation’s energy agenda.

Beyond its core business achievements, NIPCO Gas Ltd has also made a substantial impact on Nigeria’s economy. The company has invested in developing local talent, training Nigerians in modern gas processing techniques and vehicle gas conversion technologies, thus enhancing indigenous capacity within the energy sector. NIPCO Gas’s contributions have consistently earned national recognition.

The recognition adds to NIPCO Gas’s growing list of accolades, including awards from the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) and the inaugural Energy Times Awards in 2023 for its efforts in expanding Nigeria’s gas infrastructure. With this latest honor, NIPCO Gas has solidified its reputation as an industry leader dedicated to driving sustainable energy solutions and fostering economic development through strategic investments and innovative collaborations.
