From John Bassey, Gusau

The Zamfara State government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth by harnessing its abundant natural resources.

Speaking at the Solid Minerals Development Summit and Exhibition in Pakistan on April 8-9, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Alhaji Kasimu Kaura, outlined the state’s strategy.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Information Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, Kaura said, “The state plans to achieve this through strategic partnerships with foreign investors, development partners, and international organisations.”

Kaura emphasised responsible resource management, prioritising environmental sustainability and community well-being. He highlighted plans to attract significant investment, create jobs, and enhance infrastructure, particularly in the mining sector, which holds substantial potential for economic transformation.

Additionally, Zamfara aims to access advanced technology, expertise, and funding to modernise mining operations while preserving the environment. Kaura praised Governor Dauda Lawal’s leadership for unlocking the state’s resource potential and driving progress.
