The Cross River State government has announced plans to partner with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company to establish an automobile assembly plant in the state.

This partnership aims to train youths and promote industrialisation in the region.

Awatt Caleb, Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Local Content, announced that the Chairman of Innoson Group, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, expressed his interest during a meeting in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The proposed partnership includes youth training, automobile production, tyre manufacturing, and agro-industrial development.

Giving more details of the partnership, he said the state government has offered to provide a parcel of land at the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort for the assembly plant.

Innoson Motors also plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, electric cars, and a rubber-to-tyre value chain in the state.

He emphasised that this partnership aligns with Governor Otu’s “People First” agenda, focusing on attracting investments that will generate employment and drive industrialisation.

The state government also plans to host a Local Content Summit to attract professionals and investors from the diaspora to contribute to the state’s economic revival.

This summit, he added, will also promote economic growth and development in Cross River State.
