Tijani Onwenu, son of the late famous singer Onyeka Onwenu, paid homage to his mother on the first anniversary of her death.

In a short, loving statement shared on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Tijani said: “A year ago, today. RIP mom July 30, 2024″.

Onyeka Onwenu, often referred to as the “Elegant Stallion,” had just wrapped up a stellar performance at the birthday celebration of Mrs. Stella Okoli when she was suddenly rushed to Reddington Hospital, Lagos, where she sadly passed.

Onwenu is remembered for her timeless albums such as In The Morning Light and Dancing In The Sun, as well as her memorable roles in films like Half of a Yellow Sun and Lionheart.
