Amuzu Rallies Support for PDP, Decries Rising Suffering

As campaigns heat up ahead of the Remo Federal Constituency bye-election in Ogun State, prominent Egba chief and grassroots politician, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has restated his loyalty to the masses and urged support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Bola Oluwole.

Amuzu, fondly known as TA, gave the charge during a strategic meeting with community leaders and youth groups in Sagamu, where he delivered a blunt critique of the economic hardship, insecurity, and political insensitivity facing Nigerians.

“Our first commitment is always to the suffering masses,” he declared. “We must never lose sight of those who look up to us for solutions — the traders, the farmers, the unemployed youth, and the vulnerable.”

Amuzu decried the worsening cost of living, rising insecurity, and broken infrastructure across Ogun and Nigeria, describing the situation as “confusing” and “unacceptable.”

“I know the people are confused and rightfully so. They ask, how can we be suffering and still praise our oppressors? I hear you. And I will keep being your voice,” he said.

Despite reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Amuzu said his political convictions are driven by compassion and accountability, not blind allegiance.

“We will continue to be the voice of the people, no matter the noise around us,” he asserted.

The statement has since drawn commendation from constituents, many of whom see TA’s intervention as a rare display of political courage and empathy at a time when several politicians are accused of turning a blind eye to public suffering.

Political observers say Amuzu’s remarks may not only influence the outcome of the Remo bye-election but could also redefine leadership expectations within Ogun State politics.

With public frustration growing, TA’s posture — a mix of party loyalty and people-centered advocacy — is being seen as a potential model for political engagement in the region.
