The Ikolaje-Idiroko Kingdom, in collaboration with community leaders and traditional institutions, is set to host a four-day Tribute and Farewell Ceremony in honour of late Oba John Olakunle Ojo JP (Afiditi II), the revered Oniko of Ikolaje-Idirokoland.

The Chairman of the Publicity Committee of the Tribute and Farewell Ceremony, Olusola Ibirinde, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen.

In the statement on Thursday, Ibirinde said the solemn and dignified event will celebrate the life and legacy of a monarch whose reign spanned decades, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural, social, and economic development of the Nigeria-Benin border region.

The ceremony, scheduled to take place from November 12 to 15, 2025, is themed: “Honouring the Ancient Crown: Its Sacred Place in Yoruba Culture and Heritage (Bìbú ọ̀lá fun Adé Iṣẹ̀mbáyé: Ipò Adé Iṣẹ̀mbáyé ninu àṣà àti ìṣé ilẹ̀ Yoruba).”

Oba Ojo, according to Ibirinde, was widely known for his wisdom, humility, and diplomatic leadership.

He served as a symbol of peace and unity, strengthening cross-border relations and championing traditional leadership within modern governance.
