Security forces in Kebbi State have recorded a breakthrough against criminal gangs after operatives in Kamba neutralised a suspected Lakurawa bandit and recovered two motorcycles during a dawn operation in Malan Yaro village, Dandi Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on 25 November 2025 at about 5:26 a.m., when armed men believed to be Lakurawa bandits invaded the community.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the Divisional Police Officer in Kamba immediately led a joint team of police operatives and local vigilantes to the scene.

The security team pursued the attackers and engaged them in a fierce gun battle that lasted several hours.

“One of the bandits was neutralised, while others escaped into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds. Two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing suspects were recovered,” the statement said.

The remains of the suspect have been deposited at General Hospital, Kamba, for autopsy.

To prevent any reprisal and maintain stability in the area, additional police personnel, soldiers, and vigilante groups have been deployed for sustained operations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the DPO Kamba and other collaborating security outfits for what he described as “gallant performance and professionalism” in repelling the attackers.

He urged the personnel to “sustain the synergy and momentum in combating criminal elements.”

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation aimed at uncovering the gang’s operational patterns and preventing future attacks.
