The Federal Government is set to overhaul Nigeria’s regulatory framework as part of efforts to eliminate inefficiencies, strengthen governance, and align institutions with global standards.

This follows the announcement of a two-day National Workshop on “Regulating for Global Standards and Best Practices”, scheduled for next week, at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Abuja.

According to the organisers, Allied Bond Consulting in collaboration with PIFS Conferences and Seminars, the workshop will address long-standing challenges plaguing Nigeria’s regulatory authorities, including overlapping jurisdictions, conflicts between agencies, divergent enforcement strategies, and institutional weaknesses.

Programme Coordinator, Willie Tawo, in a statement on Tuesday, said the initiative is designed to produce actionable strategies for strengthening regulatory institutions in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, is expected to serve as Special Guest of Honour and deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony.

Targeted participants include senior officials of regulatory bodies, particularly Heads and Directors responsible for Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, Legal Matters, Standards, and Service Delivery (Servicom).

The organisers noted that the initiative forms part of government’s broader agenda to streamline regulatory oversight, reduce inefficiencies, and lay the foundation for sustainable national development.
