The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State, Dr Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, on Tuesday visited the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Ede as part of preparations for the 2026 governorship election.
Agboke, who led a team of INEC management staff and officials, said the visit was aimed at equipping corps members with the technical knowledge and confidence needed for their roles in the forthcoming poll.
Addressing the prospective ad hoc staff, the REC described the NYSC as a “strategic backbone” of Nigeria’s electoral process, noting that corps members had consistently contributed to the credibility and transparency of elections nationwide.

He urged them to remain professional, neutral and committed to national duty as the state moves closer to the crucial electoral exercise.
“Your involvement has strengthened the integrity of our elections over the years. We expect you to maintain the same level of dedication and uphold all guidelines that guarantee a credible process,” Agboke said.
During the sensitisation session, the corps members were trained on the operation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). INEC officials walked them through the device’s features, voter verification procedures and its role in result transmission.
The participants also engaged in hands-on demonstrations to familiarise themselves with the machine, a move meant to boost their confidence and readiness for field deployment.
Agboke urged the corps members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and vigilance, emphasising that their conduct would directly impact the outcome and public trust in the electoral process.
The visit, according to INEC, forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen electoral capacity and ensure that all stakeholders are adequately prepared for the 2026 governorship election.
